YOU MUST HAVE BEEN TRAINED HOW TO PREPARE & INJECT CAVERJECT BY A HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL BEFORE PLACING AN ORDER.
Caverject contains the active ingredient Alprostadil which is recommended as a second-line treatment for Erectile Dysfunction after other treatments such as PDE5 inhibitors have been tried.
Alprostadil is a synthetic version of the hormone Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1), which occurs naturally in your body. Alprostadil helps treat the symptoms of ED because it is a vasodilator, which means that it widens (dilates) blood vessels. This improves blood flow to the penis, making it easier for you to get an erection.
In contrast to PDE5 inhibitors, the erection occurs whether or not you are sexually aroused. Alprostadil is effective in the majority of men who use it.
Please note that this product requires careful medical supervision and takes practice to use correctly. It is a prerequisite requirement that you have been trained how to use Caverject by a healthcare professional before placing an order.
Caverject is available from PrescriptionPad as a 10mcg or 20mcg Injection.
Before using Caverject at home, you must be taught how to prepare and inject it by your doctor or another healthcare professional. You should never start treatment without talking to your clinician first. If you find it difficult to use your hands properly or if you cannot see very well your partner can be taught how to give you the injection. Discuss this with your clinician if necessary.
Your first injection will be given to you by a doctor or nurse, although after proper training and instruction you will be able to do it yourself at home. It is important that you ask if you are unsure about any of the instructions you are given. Do not try to use the injection until you have learnt the correct way to administer it, if you can’t remember what to do, see your trainer again.
Before using Caverject, you should read the manufacturer’s printed Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) from inside the pack. It will give you more information about Caverject including detailed instructions of how to prepare and inject it.
The injection is administered at the base of your penis. When starting the treatment, your doctor will give you a small dose and then gradually increase the dose if necessary. This is to make sure that you have the dose that helps your condition and avoids any unwanted symptoms.
Your correct dose is the one which produces an erection which lasts for no longer than 1 hour. Most men need between 5 and 20 micrograms. You should never use more than 60 micrograms in one injection.
It usually takes between 5–15 minutes for your erection to develop. Your erection should last for about one hour. If it lasts for between 2-4 hours, discuss this with your doctor. If it lasts for longer than 4 hours, contact your doctor immediately.
You should never use Caverject more than once per day and must not use it more than three times in one week.
When you have mixed the Caverject powder with the solution, use it straight away. Do not keep it to use later on, any unused Caverject should be discarded. Do not use Caverject if the injection is cloudy or contains particles.
Each time you inject, try to use a slightly different site as this will help to prevent any skin problems or bruising.
Never use, or try to straighten, an injection which has a bent or broken needle. If you discover a bent needle, discard the injection and select a new one.
Make sure you follow the instructions in the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) for disposing of used injections or applicators.
You should not use Caverject if you are using any other products or taking any other medicines to treat Erectile Dysfunction.
If Caverject does not help you to get an erection or if your erection does not last long enough for satisfactory sexual intercourse, you should inform your doctor.
If you use more Caverject than you should, immediately contact the nearest hospital emergency department or your doctor. Using too much Caverject can increase your risk of scarring to the penis and can cause your erection to last too long which may require treatment by a specialist doctor to reverse the effects.
Along with their useful effects, most medicines can cause unwanted side effects although not everyone experiences them. The unwanted effects often improve as your body adjusts to the new medicine, but please speak with your doctor or pharmacist if they continue or become troublesome.
Below is a list of the most common and the most serious side effects associated with Caverject. You will find a full list of possible side effects in the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) supplied with your medicine.

Injections may cause a small amount of bleeding at the site of administration. This could increase the risk of sexually transmitted diseases. If you are concerned about this, ask your doctor for advice about ‘safe sex’.
Please tell the prescriber if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. This is because Caverject can affect the way some medicines work, and some medicines can have an effect on Caverject. In the event of a medical emergency, you should tell your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse that you have used Caverject and when you did. Do not use Caverject with other medicines unless your doctor tells you that you can.
