High-Fluoride toothpaste

Helps prevent Tooth Decay

Prevents build-up of dental plaque

Remineralises the tooth’s enamel

2800ppm (0.619%) or 5000ppm (1.1%)

What is Duraphat and how does it work?

Duraphat contains the active ingredient Fluoride (as Sodium Fluoride), which functions as a caries preventing agent.

Fluoride helps to prevent tooth decay by limiting the build-up of plaque and remineralising the tooth’s enamel surface, resulting in stronger and healthier teeth.

Additional Information

How should I use Duraphat?

Before using Duraphat, you should read the manufacturer’s printed Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) from inside the pack. It will give you more information about Duraphat and provide you with a full list of the side effects which you may experience from using it.

Duraphat should be used in line with the recommendation of your dentist, in place of your regular toothpaste.

Brush carefully and thoroughly, two or three times daily, following each meal:

  • Apply a 1-2cm ribbon of toothpaste onto the toothbrush for each brushing
  • Brush teeth vertically, from the gum to the tip of the teeth
  • Careful brushing of your teeth takes approximately three minutes
  • Spit out excess foam after use, do not swallow
  • For best results do not drink or rinse the mouth for 30 minutes

Side effects from using Duraphat are very rare. In some rare cases (less than 1 in 1000 users) allergic/hypersensitivity reactions can occur, such as rash, itching, swelling, and redness. Burning oral sensation has also been reported.

Do not use Duraphat:

  • If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Fluoride or any of the constituent ingredients listed in the Patient Information Leaflet supplied with your toothpaste. Signs of a hypersensitivity reaction include swelling of the face and mouth (angioedema), breathing problems, chest pain, runny nose, skin rash or any other allergic type reaction

Warnings & Precautions

  • Fluoride toothpaste has a high Fluoride content. Fluoride tablets, drops, chewing gum, gels or varnishes, as well as fluoridated water or salt, should be avoided during the use of Fluoride toothpaste
  • Food and drink, if taken immediately after brushing your teeth, may reduce the amount of tooth remineralisation that occurs. You should therefore brush your teeth with Fluoride toothpaste after meals

Pregnancy, Breastfeeding, & Fertility

There is no experience with the use of high Fluoride content toothpastes during pregnancy or when breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult your dentist before using Duraphat.

Driving and using machinery

Duraphat has no or negligible influence on your ability to drive or operate machinery.
