Dalacin Vaginal Cream contains the active ingredient Clindamycin. Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis.
Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is characterized by an overgrowth of predominantly anaerobic organisms and a loss of lactobacilli. Clindamycin is an effective treatment choice for BV due to its high activity against anaerobic bacteria.
Before using Dalacin Vaginal Cream, you should read the manufacturer’s printed Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) from inside the pack. It will give you more information and provide you with a full list of the side effects which you may experience.
Dalacin Vaginal Cream is applied inside the vagina where it destroys the bacteria at the site of the infection. The recommended dose for BV is one 5g applicatorful inserted into the vagina once daily, at night, for 3 to 7 consecutive days. It is important to complete the course even if you feel better to prevent the infection coming back.
Good hygiene whilst using Dalacin Vaginal Cream is very important. Always: wash your hands before opening the tube or touching the applicators, use a fresh applicator for each dose, immediately throw away each used applicator in a waste container.
Along with their useful effects, most medicines can cause unwanted side effects although not everyone experiences them. The unwanted effects often improve as your body adjusts to the new medicine, but please speak with your doctor or pharmacist if they continue or become troublesome. Do not use Dalacin Vaginal Cream with other medicines unless your doctor tells you that you can.
